Returning Mentor Application: Reel Grrls Fall 2009 Programs

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Reel Grrls fall programs! To ensure the safety and quality of our programs, all prospective volunteers must complete this application prior to volunteering with Reel Grrls. This cover sheet provides a checklist for you and the staff to ensure that all the paperwork requirements have been completed. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with the following information:

Reel Grrls seeks volunteers to fill the following roles:

Technical Mentors: Our tech mentors are experienced filmmakers and familiar with at least two of the following skills: camera, lighting, audio, or editing.

Youth Development Mentors: These mentors help to create an open and safe environment for girls in the program by leading group building activities, being active listeners, and providing girls with emotional support during the program.

Curriculum Mentors: Volunteers who have a background in film history, media literacy, or other related fields help the organization create and implement cutting edge curriculum.

Workshop Leaders: Professionals with specialized know-how in the film industry (examples include: animation, script writing, super 8 film) are invited to lead one-time or short-term workshops.

Outreach volunteers: Communicating to the community about Reel Grrls is vital to our success. These volunteers make classroom presentations, phone calls to prospective girls, and other outreach tasks.

Program Administration volunteers: Managing databases, food donations, festival submissions, and coordination of volunteers are all behind-the-scenes tasks which these volunteers perform.
